Sports Interaction became the latest gambling operator from Ontario, Canada, that has received a licence for sports betting and online casino gambling issued by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
According to the latest press release, the Ontario gambling operator AGCO finally issued a gambling licence to Sports Interaction. Sports Interaction hasn’t yet confirmed how it will impact their players in Ontario, but they will definitely join the leading gambling operators in Canada and Ontario with the same licence.
Sports Interaction obtained the licence at the perfect time, as Ontario opened its online gambling market in April this year. Because of that, AGCO was on duty to collaborate with other operators and register only those who showed interest in operating inside Ontario as another legal online gambling Canadian province. Besides the online gambling licence, all gambling providers in Ontario must sign an operating agreement with AGCO about licensing to effectively offer their services to Canadian players.
Other leading gambling operators such as PokerStars, Bet365, TheScore and PointsBet received the same gambling licence from AGCO right before Sports Interaction. It’s worth mentioning that there was a monetary sanction from AGCO this week because of the permits and breaking of strict regulations. So, AGCO gives a financial penalty to Unibet of C$48,000 for advertising their gambling service irregularities. Sports Interaction and all other online gambling providers should take care of the promotion of their welcome offers and the way they are interpreted by the target audience. The AGCO organization will concisely punish similar regulations breaches.
The CEO of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, Tom Mangham, noted that they expect all gambling operators with this licence to respect the regulations for game integrity and promote responsible gambling. He reaffirmed that the AGCO would further monitor the gaming operators’ activity to ensure that they all adhere to the Gaming Control act and the standards set in Ontario.
