DraftKings, a daily fantasy and sports betting platform, announced its working on the final phase of launching an online product in Maryland state. During the soft-launch period on Monday, bettors in Maryland could place their first bets.
DraftKings sportsbook testing
To verify its compliance with Maryland’s state regulations, DraftKings will accept online bets for a couple of hours as a testing period. If the process goes well, the sportsbook will have an attractive offer for new users.
The testing was scheduled to start at 2 pm Eastern Time Zone to check the work on DraftKings’s sports betting app in Maryland. That means all bettors who met the gambling requirements in the state could place bets for a limited amount of time.
The trial period was closed at 10 pm Eastern Time Zone the same day. At that time, DraftKings had a chance to scale its sportsbook app yesterday, allowing all eligible bettors in Maryland to register on the platform and make their first deposits.
However, state regulators had to approve their registration on DraftKings first and put the whole process in the checking phase. At the end of the soft launch, DraftKings suspended all betting activity until it received clearance according to Maryland sports betting regulations.
